Interview (PDF score)

In 1960, famous Dutch comedian, singer and artist Wim Sonneveld, and the equally famous writer and musically talented Godfried Bomans, jointly performed a sketch which became known as the interview. In this hilarious performance, viewable on YouTube, Sonneveld attended a ‘master class’ by the great ‘maestro’ Bomans. As their spiky conversation unfolds, both of them take turns in playing a few improvised notes on the piano. Inspired by these very brief but quirky fragments in different keys and time signatures, I attempted to forge them into a coherent piece. It starts in D minor but it does not end there.
