Hypnosis (PDF score)

This piece in A minor has been a nightmare for me, as it grew organically into a long string of musical ideas which seemed to be going nowhere. Also, I have tried for half a year to play it myself, without success. It is thanks to the interpretation of Mattias that it acquired some semblance of unity. When he played it in the church of Uitwijk, Erik immediately said “let’s call this one Hypnosis.” And so this became the apt title for a piece which feels like a stream of consciousness.
